About

Juan Martin Baigorria was born in Argentina in 1977, but is living since many years in Bologna where he starts to work as a visual artist. Important experiences developed his view on the matter: meeting Fernando Solanas, who held cinema lessons about the preparation of documentary films “from the idea to the screenplay”; the seminar with Gherardo Gossi about profession as cinematographer.

He worked on two documentary film projects: as director of photography in “The invisible prison” by Lisa Tormena, Matteo Lolletti and Claudia Vincenzi, and as director in “Aicha is back” (film about Moroccan women migrating back to their home country).

He worked as director in “Syrian Edge”. The film tells the stories of those who abandoned their land forced by the war, and of the Lebanese community.
The documentary is financed by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO).
He worked as director in “Les Amoureux des Bancs Publics”, a documentary about revolution in Tunisia.

He took part in two editions of the International Festival of Photography in Reggio Emilia exhibiting the project “Affittasi”, about the housing crisis, and with “Oblio”. He is now developing a photographic project in Southeast Asia.
